Restaurants
All three of our local market towns Buxton, Macclesfield, and Leek have the usual range of Italian, Indian, and Chinese restaurants but none particularly outstanding. Buxton and Macclesfield have Pizza Express. Buxton has a good Thai restaurant (Simply Thai), and both the Tap House and Lone Star are popular for burger-stlye menus. The Michelin starred Fischers in Baslow is excellent, but book ahead.

Pubs
The New Inn in Flash is closest (15 minutes walk): very friendly pub and full of locals. A short drive away in Wincle is a great 17th century pub The Ship Inn who serve food. A little further (20 minutes) but definitely worth the drive is The George in Alstonefield: a traditional English pub on the village green who sometimes serve food, it's had a difficult history over the last few years so ring first (01335 310205). Also try The Rose and Crown in Allgreave.

Supermarkets
Buxton has Waitrose, Morrisons, and Aldi, supermarkets. For Tesco or Sainsburys go to Macclesfield, and there's a Coop in Leek. Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsburys, and Ocado will deliver if you order online. There's a mini supermarket at Flash Bar (1 mile).
